In 2025, SEGA once again mocks Mario Kart with a Blast Processing bonus.

When it comes to speed, Sonic doesn't settle for second place. Never. Not now, not more than 30 years ago, and certainly not against Nintendo's superstar. What we didn't expect is that just days after the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros' release, SEGA itself would decide to remember Mario by digging up the hatchet. Of course, with the humor of a long-standing rivalry and a double dose of nostalgia.
To be fair, SEGA played their cards very well and at the perfect time: to coincide with the release of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the racing game starring their well-known mascot, and fully aware of the comparisons it would draw with Mario Kart World, they remade the iconic Blast Processing commercial that compared the excitement of their games to Nintendo's. The result? Judge for yourself.
The first difference we'll notice is that in 2025, advertising can't be done like it was in the early 90s. In fact, even though they pixelate the image in this remake of the commercial, it's more than obvious that they're referring to the new Mario Kart game. From there, knowing the enormous appeal of everything Mario-related, SEGA returns to what they did so well during their golden years on the Mega Drive: comparing Nintendo's games to their own.
And although the words coined by SEGA back then aren't visible anywhere in this 2025 version of their own commercial, the theme behind each feature evokes the slogan "SEGA Does What Nintendon." SEGA does what Nintendo can't. Let's review all the features of their game that Mario Kart World doesn't offer. Some, by the way, are purely logical: there's no cross-play because it can only be played on Nintendo Switch 2.
